The Center of Excellence on Addiction’s goal is to loosen addition’s grip on the individual and community.

Addiction leads to more death and disability than any other preventable health condition. Its consequences often prove as devastating for family and friends as for the person addicted. The Center will address addictions of all kinds, from dependence on illicit and prescribed drugs, alcohol and tobacco, to behaviors such as gambling, eating disorders and sexual risk-taking.

This Center will draw on expertise at the NYU Langone Medical Center and from prestigious programs at partner institutions including NYU’s Schools at Washington Square, the Nathan Kline Institute, Brookhaven National Laboratory, the New York Academy of Medicine and NYU affiliates Bellevue Hospital and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital.
