Multiple Sclerosis

The Center of Excellence on Multiple Sclerosis will take advantage of NYU’s position as one of the only MS research centers funded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to push forward advances in search and clinical care.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that affects approximately 400,000 Americans and is a major cause of disability in young adults. The Center’s goals are to enhance the ability to detect the earliest MS lesions in the brain, to explore the pathogenesis of MS and to monitor new therapies that may inhibit progress of the disease.

The mission is to provide patients access to promising new treatments being tested in major multicenter drug trials or therapeutic strategies developed by our neuroscientists.
